The State Board of Equalization (BOE) is seeking an experienced and forward-thinking executive leader to serve as Chief Deputy Director. This Career Executive Assignment (CEA) Level C position offers a unique opportunity to help lead a statewide constitutional tax agency and oversee day-to-day operations that support critical public programs and services throughout California.
Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Chief Deputy Director provides executive leadership and strategic oversight for administrative and tax program operations across the organization. The position plays a key role in advancing agency priorities, supporting the district-elected Board, driving operational excellence, and fostering a collaborative and accountable workplace culture.
Work may require occasional travel throughout the State of California.
This position is eligible to participate in BOE’s telework program, subject to BOE’s policies and guidelines.
